Unite to Reject Marcos! 2022 People’s State of the Nation Address

Every July, the Philippine president delivers a State of the Nation Address (SONA) to share the current condition of the country. However, on a day we are meant to hear the genuine and concrete needs of the Filipino masses, we are met instead with lies and deceit built upon years of disinformation that only feed the selfish interests of the ruling class and the imperialist powers they bow to. In response to this, BAYAN holds a People’s State of the Nation Address (PSONA) to deliver the genuine concerns and demands of the masses.

PSONA is not just a day of protest, but a manifestation of the decades of organizing & strength of the Filipino people. This is why the Filipino people from all classes and sectors—including workers, farmers, migrants, indigenous peoples, youth, women, LGBTQ folks, and so many others—are represented on this day. They are proof of the realities of the everyday Filipino people.

Faced with the new Marcos regime, the Filipino people have already made their demands clear in a 9-Point People’s Agenda for Change.* The agenda includes key points on addressing the skyrocketing price of basic goods, making domestic food production a priority, defending press freedom and fighting disinformation, providing free health care and social services, and upholding national sovereignty.

It is clear that genuine change for the Filipino people will not be achieved by the heirs of the two most vile fascists the country has ever seen. It will be achieved from the struggle of the toiling masses and the broad people’s movement that supports it.

Join BAYAN USA as we build the mass movement to reject and fight the Marcos-Duterte regime! Attend a PSONA action near you!
