36 years ago, the Filipino people ousted dictator Ferdinand Marcos. The defeat of Marcos and his martial law was the result of a people’s movement that united to overthrow tyranny.
In the past 6 years, we have confronted an even more brutal regime, that of Rodrigo Duterte. With 30,000+ killed in his “drug war,” a militarized pandemic response, widespread corruption, and sellout of Philippine sovereignty, Duterte has exceeded Marcos’ crimes against the people.
Today, we face the threat of a return to tyranny under these dictators’ children: Bongbong Marcos, Jr. and Sara Duterte-Carpio.
We call on Filipinos and our allies to mobilize on February 25, the anniversary of the People Power Uprising, to say: Never again to Marcos-Duterte!
