On May 3rd we held an all-day migrant workers gathering; starting off with a Filipino Migrant Worker’s Summit in the morning led by Migrante USA and GABRIELA USA chapters. Here, members had the opportunity to share their different ongoing campaigns, specifically highlighting the Justice for Filipino Caregivers campaign. One of which was the fight for an end to the 24-hour Workday in New York. Members also raised their concerns about the increased price of basic necessities, lack of workplace protections and social services. The attendees discussed and further particularized the list of demands that migrant workers had for the Philippine government. The workers and community members united to raise to the demands to the Philippine government representatives who were also present for the International Migration Review Forum.

In the afternoon the chapters present came together with organizations and workers from the International Migrants Alliance (IMA) to talk about the impacts of immigration policies on our communities.

We ended the day with a solidarity cultural night incorporating performances from Migrante members, Tanggol Migrante, and Danza Sumak Cañary, a dance group brought in by the Frente Unido de Inmigrantes Ecuatorianos (FUIE).
